Surrounding Park Areas Update

Published: March 26, 2021

Dear Neighbors,

I would like to provide you with two exciting updates.

First, in December of 2020, the City officially accepted the parkland dedication of the 4.7-acre tract along Stewart Road. The rest of the property to the north will remain under the control of the Meridian HOA, the same group developing south of Stewart Road. This HOA will continue to provide maintenance on this property.

Second, City Council recently authorized DCBA, a landscape architecture firm, to begin master planning efforts on Towne Lake Park, which includes Towne Lake, Grady Littlejohn sports complex, the Senior Recreation Center, Recreation Center at Towne Lake and the former McKinney Greens golf course property (shown in blue hatching). Additionally, a separate master plan will be prepared for the 4.7-acre future neighborhood park (shown in red hatching). As promised, public input will be taken as part of these master planning efforts. I anticipate the process beginning in mid-April, so please be on the lookout for more information.

Funding sources and construction timing will be determined following the public input process.

Please feel free to contact Jenny Baker with the Parks & Recreation Department with any questions you might have at 972-547-2644 or jbaker@mckinneytexas.org.

Director of Parks & Recreation
